Small kitchen island built from reclaimed heart pine. Shop made veneer on the walls, resawn from 12″ wide barge board. The panels in the doors are built from the same stock, and both sets of twin doors feature symmetrical book matched panels. I built the drawer fronts for the drawer stack from a single piece, so the grain travels across the doors. Solid maple dovetailed drawers and soft close hinges complete the piece. I wanted to build this project as high quality as possible, down to the last detail.
Grain on the drawer stack.
Snub nose tenons in the door frames.
The adjacent door frames are cut from a single piece too!

Swivel mirror perfect for shop or home. Reclaimed antique heart pine.
Solid antique reclaimed heart pine. Maple pegs. Exposed joinery connects the shelves to the stiles.
These photos of decay and peeling paint are meant to suggest abstract painting. Finding beauty in the collapse of our monuments is a skill which may prove more valuable as we accelerate toward apocalypse. I’ve taken photos of walls all over and for a long time. They keep changing as they fall apart until they are repaired or replaced… I imagine it as a very subtle and boring tv show that no one is watching.
